Insurance Exchange Building

Constructed in 2 phases sixteen years apart. The north half was completed in 1912, and the south half in 1928. The peak of the north skylight is the highest point on the building, three feet higher than the south skylight. The steel skylights over the light courts were lifted into position by helicopter. Before the south half was built, the entire first floor space was occupied by a consolidated railroad ticket office.
The floorplates are 68,000 ft² each. The recent $80 million renovation upgraded this building from Class C office space to Class A. Renovated from 1999-2001 by Lucien Lagrange & Associates. The lobby and entrances were redesigned, the two light courts were capped by skylights, and the exterior brick and terra-cotta were cleaned
