Mont Clare bowling alley – “In the ’50s and ’60s, this place rocked.”

Mont Clare bowling alley closed after more than 50 years.

“On Friday and Saturday nights, we used to have lines of people waiting to come in and now we can’t get 20 lanes,” he said. “In the ’50s and ’60s, this place rocked.” – Chicago Tribune Article

Now demolished west side bowling alley had a certain turn-of-the-20th century vibe about it, befitting its location. The bowling alley crossed with a 2 separate banquet halls.  As business declined, the neighborhood has been changing and while bowling remains a very popular sport, the bills were piling up. Now the site hosts and entire row of condo buildings.
